Suggested walk by one of our guests near Invergarry

Hello

A couple of our lovely guests left notes about this walk:

Park 2 miles West of Invergarry on the A87 (Forestry Commission site).
Basic walk follow yellow markers (waterfall walk) for 3 miles.

The walk can be extended in either direction for a longer walk or both directions for a full day.

Lots to see such as a dipper on the river, red squirrel in the forest and lots of fungi.

Invergarry is about 25 minutes from Spean Bridge by car and of course there is great scenery on the way.

Gairlochy locks on the Caledonian canal

This is the swing bridge at Gairlochy which allows traffic to pass over the Caledonian Canal.  Its a very scenic area with locks,  moorings,  a pepper pot lighthouse and great views of Ben Nevis and the Nevis Range.  Great spot for a picnic at one of the numerous tables.

Always looking to improve our guest house in Spean Bridge

We are always looking for ways to improve our guest house for the benefit of guests. One such improvement this season is our Tencel mattress toppers which will soften the bed surface but because it's Tencel it should not make the bed too warm.

Spring time on Loch Oich near Spean Bridge

Today's photo was taken just across the road from the Well of the Seven Heads store looking across Loch Oich.
The actual well of the Seven Heads was where the heads of 7 government supporters were dropped during one of the Jacobite uprisings.
There is a tunnel under the road to the Well.

Spring bee in crocus flower, Spean Bridge guest house near Fort William

We have had some beautiful days recently and the many crocus flowers have been out. A couple of bees have been taking advantage of some early opporunities.

When choosing plants we try to be bee and butterfly friendly.

GOOD NEWS - Vodafone 3G mobile telephone signal in Spean Bridge, near Fort William, Scottish Highlands

GOOD NEWS - Vodafone 3G mobile telephone signal

As part of an initiative started by the Spean Bridge, Roy Bridge and Achnacarry Community Council and managed by the Glen Spean and Great Glen Tourism Group we now have Vodafone 3G mobile telephone signal in Spean Bridge.

Three businesses offered their premises as locations for the transmitters across the village. The signal will be strongest near the Milton Spean Bridge Hotel, Aonach Mor Hotel and Distant Hills Guest House.

Distant Hills is now live with the two hotels coming on stream this week providing fast loading web pages, maps and video streaming!

This is great for visitors and locals alike and is the kind of steady improvement in facilities we want to see for the area.
